Warranty Support

If you believe your mattress has a defect in materials or workmanship, this page will walk you through what you need to submit a warranty support request.

Before submitting, please read the full warranty so you understand your coverage, what qualifies as a warrantable defect, and what documentation is required. Claims submitted without the required documentation cannot be processed.

Frequently asked questions

How do I measure a sleep impression for warranty?

A sleep impression is measured using a straight edge — a rigid board, level, or yardstick — laid flat across the mattress surface, bridging the impression from one side to the other. The depth is measured from the underside of the straight edge down to the lowest point of the impression.

Body impressions of up to 1½” are considered normal. They are caused by the natural materials in your mattress conforming to your individual sleep characteristics and are not considered a defect. An impression that exceeds 1½” may qualify for warranty review.

When photographing your mattress for your claim, use the same straight edge technique and include a tape measure or ruler in the frame so the depth is clearly visible.

What qualifies as a warrantable defect?

The Lifekind 20-Year Limited Warranty covers significant defects in materials and workmanship. The most common warrantable condition is a body impression that exceeds 1½” when measured with a straight edge across the mattress surface.

Warranty coverage does not apply to: normal wear and tear, firmness preference or comfort changes, minor imperfections, tears, stains, soiling, burns, dampness or mold, or naturally occurring aromas from cotton, wool, or latex.

What voids my warranty?

The following will void your Lifekind warranty or remove warranty protection:

  • Failing to support your mattress with a Lifekind box spring or Lifekind wood slat foundation of appropriate size
  • Using a platform bed with slat spacing exceeding 3 inches (or 1 inch for the Astar™ or Sorell™ mattresses)
  • Using a full, queen, or king-size set without a frame that has a metal or wood center support
  • Transporting the mattress flat — handles are for rotating only, not carrying
  • Any indication the mattress has been folded or bent (innerspring and pocket coil mattresses)
  • Any indication the mattress or foundation has been jumped on
  • Placing the mattress on solid wood boards, even if drilled with ventilation holes
  • Using the mattress on an adjustable foundation
  • Mattresses sold as-is or as floor models
  • Mattresses disassembled for inspection by the original purchaser
  • Layered, zippered latex mattresses used without a medium or firm base layer
  • Mattresses found to be in an unsanitary condition upon inspection
  • Product not purchased directly from Lifekind by the original consumer purchaser
  • Unable to provide proof of purchase showing date, place, and purchase price
  • Unable to provide the law label from the defective product
What is not covered under the warranty?

The following conditions are not considered defects and are not covered under the warranty:

  • Body impressions of up to 1½” — these are caused by natural materials conforming to your individual sleep characteristics and are normal
  • Normal wear and tear
  • Minor imperfections
  • Tears, stains, soiling, burns, dampness, or mold
  • Firmness preference or a change in comfort
  • Allergy and sensitivity
  • Naturally occurring cotton, wool, or latex aromas

If you are unsure whether your specific concern qualifies as a warrantable defect, please read the full warranty or contact us before submitting a claim.

Is my warranty transferable if I sell or give away the mattress?

No. The Lifekind warranty extends only to the original consumer purchaser and is nontransferable. Coverage applies only to products purchased directly from Lifekind. No warranties, expressed or implied, are extended to persons who purchase the product from anyone other than Lifekind.

Where do I find the law label?

The law label is attached to your mattress — typically found on the side or at the foot end of the mattress. It is a fabric tag that cannot legally be removed by anyone other than the consumer.

The law label contains important information including the date of manufacture, model number, and lot number — all of which are required to file a warranty claim. You will need clear photos of both law labels as part of your claim submission.

What if I no longer have my proof of purchase?

A copy of the original store receipt or other documentation of the date, place of purchase, and purchase price is required for your warranty to be valid. Without proof of purchase, we are unable to validate a warranty claim.

If you purchased your mattress from Lifekind directly, contact us and we may be able to locate your order in our records. Please have any identifying information available, such as the name on the order, approximate purchase date, or order number if known.

How long does a warranty claim take to process?

After you submit your warranty support request with all required documentation, our team will review your claim and follow up with you directly. Response times may vary depending on volume, but we make every effort to respond promptly.

If you have not heard back within a reasonable timeframe, please contact us directly at our contact page.

What happens if my exact mattress is no longer available?

If identical materials are not available at the time of product service, Lifekind reserves the right to substitute materials. Substitute materials may be visibly different from the original but will be of equal or higher quality. Product replacement under this warranty occurs one time only.

Who pays for shipping if my mattress needs to be returned?

Shipping responsibility is determined by Lifekind on an individual basis and depends on when you purchased your mattress:

  • Within the first year: Lifekind will pay freight charges for products returned with a confirmed warrantable defect, provided the return is accompanied by a Return Authorization number (RA#).
  • After the first year: The customer is responsible for freight charges. If a warrantable defect is confirmed upon inspection, those freight charges will be reimbursed by Lifekind.

Do not return your mattress without first obtaining an RA# from Lifekind. Returns without an RA# will not be accepted.

What does "prorated" mean and how is it calculated?

After the first 10 years, your warranty coverage is prorated on a 20/2 basis. This means that if a warrantable defect is determined, the credit you receive toward repair or replacement is a percentage of your original purchase price — not the current retail price.

In year 11 you receive a 20% credit. That credit decreases by 2% each subsequent year: 18% in year 12, 16% in year 13, and so on down to 2% in year 20. Use the proration calculator on this page to estimate your current coverage based on your purchase date.

The answers above are provided as general guidance only and do not supersede, modify, or replace the terms of the Lifekind 20-Year Limited Warranty. In the event of any conflict, the written warranty terms govern. No statement made here or by any Lifekind staff member constitutes a modification of warranty terms unless confirmed in writing by an authorized Lifekind representative.

Documents you will need

Have the following ready before submitting your claim.

  1. Proof of purchase (order confirmation or receipt)
  2. Photos of both law labels with the date of manufacture, model number, and lot number clearly visible
  3. Photos of your mattress without sheets or bedding, clearly showing the area(s) of concern

Calculate your proration

All necessary replacements or repairs that are determined by Lifekind to be caused by manufacturing defects will be non-prorated for ten (10) years from the date of purchase. After ten years, repairs or replacement will be prorated on a 20/2 percentage basis — a 20% credit in year 11, decreasing by 2% each year through year 20. Enter your purchase date to calculate your current proration.
